Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Blogtember Day 10 // A Day in the Life

Day 10 of the #blogtemberchallenge is here! It's been such a great exercise -- writing every day -- and I'm so glad I joined again this year.

I'm trying to stay ahead of the prompts by scheduling posts out in advance, but when there is a new prompt for every day it makes it quite... challenging. (Ha!) How has your progress been so far?

Today's prompt was a lot of fun, and I actually took these photos earlier in the week to get that head start I've been striving for. Everything you see here is actually from Monday.

Obviously, the day starts with a cup of coffee. #coffeegivesmelife We have an amazing Krups machine at home, which makes our mornings so much easier!

It was Jackson's first day of 2nd Grade on Monday, and the plan was to take Liam to meet his teachers at his new Kindergarten (that's Preschool for you 'Murican-Folk), so naturally, matching outfits were in order.

Jackson's first day wasn't really technically a "day" at all -- he was at school for less than an hour. So instead of going back home or running errands as I would on a normal school day for him, Liam and I waited in the school building, where we went up and down this set of stairs for about 30 minutes. (Weee.)

When Liam tired of the stairs, we counted squares on the floor and then stared out the window, longing to go outside and play (which we did).

The wait was over, so we went to a local café (my favorite -- Nöbauer) for some Kipferl and coffee before heading to Liam's Kindergarten. We met his teachers, and chose his official start date. THESE ARE EXCITING TIMES, MY FRIENDS.

To celebrate Jack's first day and Liam's soon-to-be first day, we went to the toy store to pick out one small toy for each of them. Jack "helped" Liam choose some sort of Transformer thing, and Jack chose a similar toy for himself so they could "battle it out" at home. (I wanted to get the Batman mask but Liam kept screaming for some weird Star Wars one instead, which was almost €20, so I decided against both masks, in the end.)

On our walk home I stopped by this flower shop and stared at the beautiful flowers and plants, wondering how long they'd live if I took them home. I do not have a green thumb, which is sad because I love having flowers and plants in the house! It'll just have to be cut flowers forever, I'm afraid.

It was about 1:00 in the afternoon when we got home, so after lunch was NAP TIME! On the left is a #naptimehustle moment -- Liam is asleep, Jack is playing quietly, I've got coffee number three at the ready, and am being super productive editing photos or writing a post or something. On the right is post-nap (I had changed into something more comfortable in the meantime), and since I wasn't quite finished with whatever it was I needed to get done, I got to squeeze in some snuggles AND a few more minutes of work before my husband got home! That's a win.

It had gone from beautiful, clear, sunny skies to buckets of rain; back to clear, sunny skies; then back to rain; then sun, and on and on, the whole day, and at one point later in the evening it was even hailing. (I told Jackson that God was being a big goofball that day.) At the end of one of His rain showers God sent us this little reminder of His promises (this is the view out of our living room window).

All in all, I'd say that a day that begins with coffee and ends with a double rainbow is a day well spent, wouldn't you?
